Countdown

“No desk, no turtle, no cover. We are
all about to die.” Countdown, by Deborah Wiles, is a book about a child’s life, Franny, before, during, and after the Nuclear War. Franny’s life is hard in many ways.
For example, she is having troubles with her friends and family. Her best
friend Margie has basically left her for a girl named Gale. Plus, her sister,
Jo Ellen, is very secretive about her life and Franny wants to know what is
happening. Franny is very brave, smart, and hopeful throughout this story. If
this book was ever turned into a movie, I would want Selena Gomez to play the
role of Franny.
